I recently bought an 01 A4 and have noticed this odd paint problem on the hood. I tried hand polishing and that seemed to make it slightly less noticeable but it is definitely still there. It doesn't look like normal oxidized paint and the rest of the paint on the car looks fine. It is a little hard to see in the pics because of the color of the car. Any ideas of what it is or how to get rid of it? I am thinking of taking the car to a body shop to see what they think but I am trying to avoid that if possible. Here are a few pics:

Did you have any luck getting the hood paint fixed?

I have the same issue, even worse, covering the entire hood of my '02 A4 1.8T. Rest of car paint is totally fine.

Tried all kinds of polish, no luck. Talked to a local detailer who could not help.

Have heard it could be from acid rain. Hate to have to replace entire hood, as mileage is getting up there.
