I have '99 A6 avant, just bought used 17x7" factory vw wheels with 225/45/17's. I think the offset is 47, not sure. They fit but rub the the control arm just barely, seems like they could come out about another 1/2" without rubbing fender is there some kind of spacer to do this? Are they safe? I need to step up overall height to keep speedo acurate, I was thinking 225/50/17 or 215/55/17 (if that size exists) I'm afraid the added height will make rubbing worse especially w/o spacers. Also how do you put on the spacers since I have lug bolts instead of nuts. I don't want to sink a bunch of $ into this but I can spend a little. Thank you everone for your help.
