Default 01 A4 1.8T air filter

I recently changed the air filter on my 2001 a4 1.8T, and it was very difficult due to number of lines on top of the air filter box. All the lines seemed to be tied down pretty good. Did anyone else have this problem? Is there a easier way to change the filter?

Thanks

Default RE: 01 A4 1.8T Oil filter

I had to remove the coolant reservoir to get to the oil filter. Is this the only way? Is there a easier way from the bottom?

Thanks

I do have the right filters for both air and oil. For the air filter box, it was difficult to open due to the lines running over the box. As for the oil filter, I haven't figured out a way to replace it without undoing the 3 screws on the coolant reservoir, and tipping it over. Just wondering if there are any other method.

The air filter is a little tough. The top part of the filter housing can be pulled up just barely enough to slide the old filter out and slide a new one in. Removeing the coolant reservoir is the easyest way to change the oil filter. On the manuel trans cars you have enough room to get it from the bottom.

I've only been able to unclip 3 of the 4 clips that
secure the air filter. Unscrew the two heat shield screws.
Wear gloves to prevent cutting your hands. Open the air
box gradually, so that the filter can slide out. Replace the
filter and reclip.

All the more reason to put an intake on your car - you won't have to screw around with this anymore.

Yeah but theres a cold air intake from the factory. All the intakes do is suck hot air from right next to the turbo.
