Default 04 FSi Issues

Hi all,

Been having some teething problems with my 04 A3 2.0FSi. Owned it a little over a month and already had coil packs replaced under warranty.

I now have some suspension and performance issues that are a little difficult to explain but i'll give it a go...

The car is a Sport, so I expect a little more of a harsh ride in line with improved handling, however at motorway speeds there is a lot of vibration. Surely this is not normal? I'm thinking the shocks may need replacing but can't see anything untoward? These is also a mechanical sounding clunk when on full-lock to the right at slow speeds.

When the coil packs went the car defaulted to 'limp mode'. Had all packs replaced and all was good, but the fuel economy and performance is a little slack. Pickup at motorway speeds is below what I would expect for a 2ltr and at slower speeds performance is intermittent. Also fuel economy is poor, especially on motorway journeys when cruising in 6th at 75 or so - figures of between 29-34mpg are an average. I've added STP thinking it may be injectors following the coil packs, but have seen little difference. Car is still under warranty so I want to get this nailed whilst I can.

Any help appreciated. Are these issues something that could be flagged in a VAG-Com test?

its obvious from your post that there are engine performance issues and i would think a VAG-com test will tell the rest of the story. But if its still under warranty, then i suggest you take it in to the dealership.
