I own a 1994 Audi RS2 wagon that has been completely modified both by Porsche and by the previous owner. It pushes over 410 hp with a six speed. It is currently in Rome Italy and I'm trying to import it into the U.S. My question is what do I need to do to this car to make it meet U.S. import standards if anything as well as shipping it to the U.S. Other possibilities maybe;import to Canada? Sell on Ebay??
Any ideas would be great!

Oddly enough, Canada has higher standards than the U.S. I would check with the DOT on this. My guess is that you will be spending some big bucks to get it to meet the emmissions reqs for the States and some safet features may need to be upgraded. But all this should be done through the DOT. Without the help of Audi/Porsche, you will be looking at alot of headaches.

Just my thoughts.

 

I'm with ImolaS4 on this one. It would have been hard enough to get that thing to US standards without all the mods. I've never had to deal with meeting standards for different countries cuz the only cars I've been a part of shipping in or out of the country have been vintage race cars, and needless to say, racecars don't really have to meet a lot of standards.

I hate not being able to help, but I think this question is a little out our league and you would be better off getting the details from a professional. I hope you don't have to end up detuning it too much cuz I'd love to see that thing in action! Keep us posted.
