1998 a6/c5 wont crank PLEASE HELP!!
Hello my this is my first Audi it's a 1998 A6 3.0, and it won't crank, I took the starter out had it tested that came back fine. So now it's back to searching the web, Google, every Audi forum, and even Vortex... It isn't the ignition switch, because I can hear the transmission control relay click when I try to start it, which in common sense the ignition switch works, so now the leaves me the relay under the hood next to the ecu I have no clue what its called, something with the shifter switch, the previous owner i got the car from said its 3.0liter but when i got to auto parts they say there is no such. Please if anyone has a thread, or even a diagram, even the name to the relay under the hood, and what it's job is would be a big help..... sorry for the lengthy question but this car is driving me nuts....

Can you see a part number on that relay? I can help identify it for you if you have a number. I looked through the electrical section in both relay board locations and found nothing that clearly stated it was dedicated to the starting circuit. Did you look at the multi function switch mounted on the side of the transmission where the selector shaft runs through it?

I checked that stuff got new relays and come to find out its the Ignition switch, I though it was good because i heard the relay click when trying to start the car, thanks for you input, apparently this is a very common problem with the c5 and b5 Audi....
