Hi! I need some help in choosing the oil between 5w40 or 10W40 in hot weather, over 85F daily. Any advise is welcomed. The car has about 87000 miles and it's a 2.7T.
Thank you

5w-40 an 10w-40 will have the same thickness at normal running temps, ie, that of 40 weight oil. The 85f temps outside have nothing to do with it since the engine will be around 200f when running (thermostat). The 10w-40 will be thicker at startup. This can be affected by outside temps, but you should always use the lowest first number oil you can for the best start up circulation times.
So, between the two, I would use the 5w-40.

Thanks for the advise Midniteoyl, I'll go than with 5W40.
