Default Cold weather....cluster dies? Warm weather OK? Anyone else have this problem?

2000 Audi TT 180hp Quattro. I bought the car in the spring when the weather in upstate ny could be 75 one day and 25 the next. Right away I noticed on really cold days (below 40) the dash cluster wouldn't work. The information screen in the center lights up but is frozen on whatever was displayed before the cluster went out. The crazy thing is usually after driving for an extended period of time the cluster would come back on and everything is fine untill the next cold day. The computer still keeps track of my odometer and gas mileage. Well, it worked all summer but now its starting to get cold again and the problem has reappeared. I dont think im covered in the class action. Any comments?
