2002 A6 broken timing belt

2002 A6 broken timing belt

I am looking at buying a 02 A6 3.2 with a broken timing belt. Is this a case of bent valves or just a belt replacement? Any help is appreciated.

It's an interference engine, so bent valves are almost guaranteed.

IF you can get the car cheap and you have time to fix it slowly go for it but be prepared for a machine shop bill of about $1000-$1500.

No, I decided to not purchase the A6, it was a little too far away to transport and the guy wanted too much to make it worthwhile. so, I bought a low miles 02 A6. but thanks for the help
