Default 2004 A3 2.0 FSi issues

Having owned my car less thn 24 hours, I have my first fault.

Was driving home form work this afternoon, and as I pulled away from a junction the car started to judder and power decreased dramatically. The engine check light was flashing and the car was not happy at all. Managed to limp home, with some serious lack of power and a very rough ride. To me, it feels like something to do with the driveshaft or similar - the engine feels as though it is almost detached from the car it's so hesitant. It is also very unwell on idle.

I have no vag-com to hand, fortunately I would expect anything to be covered under warranty. However, it would be nice to have an idea of what may be wrong before I arrange for it to be looked at by the garage. Does anyone have a clue?!

Thanks

Misfire. Have Autozone or dealer if under warranty, read the codes.
Spark plugs or ignition coils usually are the cause.

I thought it may be something to do with the 'bang'. Hopefully the garage are smart enough to read the codes rather than speculating.

Thanks for the swift response.
