2008 A4 2.0T oil burn/engine heat issue, help
I bought a 2008 A4 2.0T s line. It only has 100k miles on it but it burns oil pretty fast and the engine gets extremely hot and makes a metallic tapping sound. It doesn't break the median but you can feel how hot it is and whenever I shut my car off in the garage I can smell something burning.
I've taken it to the dealer and they said it seems to be normal with the car but they can't be sure unless they do a complete engine tear down. a month later I inquired about a trade in and the dealer tried to offer me 6,000$ for the car because the mech said it was burning oil and he could tell by my exhausts being black.
I've been reading about people getting free oil consumption tests and piston replacements from Audi. What are my options here?

Oil consumption.
Hello there hope everything is good.
I won't worry to much about metallic sound since the FSI engine sound pretty much like there is something like a valve spring broken, and the heat is normal for turbo engine.
Now the big issue here is the oil burning and if you are handy and understand mechanic I can guide you and we can get into a accurate diagnose. Let me know if you want my help.

I agree with Ariel about the heat issue with turbo engines. It's the nature of the beast. Turbos get HOT HOT HOT. Your oil consumption issue could also lie with the turbo. If you remove the turbo and the intake side of the turbo shows no blackened surfaces but the exhaust side does, the turbo itself could be the oil leak. If it's all black inside, you definitely have some oil leakage inside the engine by the rings or valve seals. If you notice any light grey smoke from the exhausts, that is oil being burned. Not to be confused with the normal white smoke (more like water vapor) that comes from the exhaust on cooler days.
