4.2 belt and water pump questions

Default 4.2 belt and water pump questions

So. I was going through some recipts from the pervious owner of my A6 4.2....
At 47,000 miles, the Water pump went, while they were in there they replaced
the timing belt, good news of course....
the car is at 72,000 miles.....when is it due for a new belt and pump????

I'd say somewhere between 100,000 and 125,000...

I've seen/heard recommended intervals of between 60,000 and 90,000. And that to 45,000 and you come up with numbers different than what I said... I'm retarded, ignore me!

Not any time soon. sometime well over 100k, probably 125k or higher

You can always call up your local dealer and ask them. If they say they'll do it now, then find a seperate auto repair shop that specializes in German Cars or Audis and ask them as well. Actually i would go ahead and ask a couple of different places anyways, it's always good to have a couple of sources

125k min for the belt/tensioner/idlers, the pump only if required your choice
