A4 1.8T 140Kw - Coolant needs filling weekly
Hi All
I really need some help here, about two weeks ago while driving I picked up a strange 'vibration' which went through the entire car. The
engine seemed to be seizing up, like there was a lack of lubrication, there was no power and a metalic grating feel coming from the engine. I stopped the car and switched off the engine, after restarting it seemed fine. A few minutes later it started again, I drove the car to a dealer and had t wait about 30 minutes before being attended too. On starting the car and test driving it the problem was gone. I was stumped, the dealer representative could not help because the car was not acting up again.
Since then, the coolant lowwarning has been coming on atleast once per week,I have never had any problems with the car from new. I have covered 105K kms.
Can anybody help shed some light on the above ?
I believe that the engine was starved of oil somehow and this has resulted in one of the water channels on the head gasket being breached, very slightly, causing the slow loss in water ?

If you're loosing coolant, than the first thing to do is check for leaks (look for red residue). If the engine had been "starved of oil", by now you would be buying a new one. Lack of lubrication cannot damage the head gasket. Did the Audi dealer give you any codes the engine threw?

Thanks for the reply, I have not noticed any red residue from the coolant. The car has been booked in for its 105K km service this week, I have reported the issue. No, I do not have any codes - I will however get the dealer to plug in the diagnostics check.
Are there any problems that may emerge at the current mileage ? Checks that I need to ensure are done ?
