Can anyone help, my aging (1997)A4 started and immediately stopped. Now will not start but spins, sound like the immobiliser has kicked in. Any ideasw on how to fix this problem. I am very lost without my car, had from new!![&o]

 

I don't think that the immobilizer was introduced until 2001. Are you getting a flashing key on your dash or a immobilizer flashing on the dash?

The immobilizer will let you start the car. the car will run for 3 sec then turn off. this is repeatable so if the car is not starting there might be a bigger issue

 

Its definatly not immobilizer. You car would start and die if it was imobillizer. Check your fuel pressre. You may have had a fuel pump or fuel pump relay go bad.
