a4 not starting, strange dashboard light. Image attached
Hi all. First post here. Love my Audi (go lemans Saturday!)
2007 Audi A4. 2 liter turbo. 66k miles. Last few thousand miles, it doesn't start every once in a while. I noticed this image. See below. Took it to my mechanic he said the entire computer needs reprogramming. The dealer has to do it. Costs $4,000. Any advice ? Seems to start when the cars sat for a few minutes after trying to repeatedly start it. Thanks.

Disconnect BOTH terminals from the battery. . Touch the positive lead to a ground (body or disconnected negative lead). Get in and turn the key as if you are starting the car. Of course it's not going to do anything without the battery connected but this grounds out and discharges any power from the ECU (in most vehicles). Let it sit overnight. Connect the battery back up. Turn the key on but DO NOT try to crank the car for a few seconds. Then try to crank the car.
Is the car generating any OBD error codes?
