Hi- we have a 2003 A6 quattro 3.0L. Two weeks ago we had the car serviced, and there was a noisy fan belt- the mechanics replaced the belt and 'serviced' the car.

A week later the tensioner assembly broke/snapped right off. I had to drive the car home without a fan belt. I got home and the belt and tensioner pulley were lying in the tray below the fan.

So I left a message for the mechanic. I will share his name and firm if he's wrong...BUT

Today I got a call from the mechanic- stating it wasn't his problem- these things break. The car has 56k, so how can a tensioner assembly BREAK at low mileage like this- ?
