An 'abs' and the E-Brake indicator lights are intermittenly coming on in unison. I haven't identified the pattern but in the last two days it's been either when slowing down, or resuming motion after having stopped (without the lights coming on)? I have a 2000 A6 2.8 Quattro.

Anybody have any ideas what might be going on?

What might these be indicating? What are the kinds of failure or wear? I'm not sure what to ask because I don't know anything about the abs mechanism/system.
