ok so my abs hasnt been working but the abs light isnt on so today when i was taking the back roads home from work i wanted to slide a little so i did and when i did the car beeped at me and the speedomiter went to zero altong with the rpm's i thought that was weird so when i got to my street i did it again then magicly the abs worked then i did one last test of it and my abs didnt work and it just locked up on me and the car was beeping and every thing went to zero again??? anyone know what the heck is going on??

Just curious why do you not recommend rebuilt modules? I've read many posts about Modulemaster and they seem fine. You get a 5 year warranty on your module as well and it costs $200 not 4 times more

I spoke to a import parts store yesterday and they could get the part but said it was too expensive and I should just have it rebuilt. Also he recommended the rebuild kit to me but said if I've never done the job than I should leave it to someone else.

Additionally, it seems pretty easy to get it rebuilt, send it modulemaster or another place and you could drive without module on there. They get it back to you in few days and the codes reset on there own. Also Modulemaster tests the modules before and if they see that it's good they send it baack to you without rebuilding it. I also think if it does not reset your lights than they give you money back.

I'm also asking bc I'm going to send my module off soon to get it rebuilt and I agree with ruling everything out before sending it for rebuild. What else should we look for before diagnosing the problem as the module?

 

thanks for clarifing on the process. its a personal opinion really. you have to be certified to do it. and some dude offering via internet didnt sound to safe. i just dont like putting safety components into the hands of after market. my module is 500 from audi and a rebuilt one was 350 i thought the extra money was worth the peice of mind even though i didnt get it.

but then again abs is a luxury not a nessesity.

the shops around here did not offer such a nice 5 year warrenty or send it back if your old one is actually good.

actually after ready it again i was thinking of the hydrolic unit. not the control module

so in answer to your question yes you should get a rebuilt computer not the hydrolic unit

also this could be no problem at all. abs and traction control are ment to keep you in control if your directly trying to get out of control and get out of its working paramitters. depending on how new the car is it shuts down everything and thinks your going to crash. try it with your windows down and i bet they will roll them selfs up. some of the mecades models sit your seat up tighten your seat belt audis going the same thing but im not sure how close they are with it.

why dont you call audi or go there and talk to them the sevice writers there are usally pretty helpfull even if you dont get it worked on

 

Actually, you do want a rebuilt one. The original Bosch units have a factory defect and my rebuild replaces that defect, which will prevent them from failing in that place in the future. I pre-emptively rebuild the modules on my cars before they fail.

 

If its just an ABS light it isnt a bad module, you dont need to have it rebuilt. The module is bad when its a ABS/Flashing Brake light combo. It sounds like one of your wheel speed sensors is dirty or bad, if you plug a VAG into it you can find out which one it is.

The RPM's shouldnt go to zero too though, that could mean an instrument cluster issue or something.

 

ok i get the ABS/Flashing Brake light combo, but not all the time, sometimes it turns on when i start the car and after 10-15 min of driving it goes away. some times it doesn't come on at all or stays on for the whole ride.

i'm thinking its one of the sensors or the wiring, i just got the car so i have no idea how long its been doing that.

also where is the module located at? i have 01 a4 1.8t quatro.

Could be a loose connector at the ABS module (should be located on driver side of engine compartment with metal lines running from the master cylinder to it and then branching off, will probably say bosch and its metal with some black sections i beieve). I would try cleaning the harness with contact cleaner and check the fuse (maybe its loose i doubht it though). If all of this fails it probably needs to be rebuilt.

Anyone got any second opinions on this? Originally, told it was the module shooting craps, which was what I figured, but now, somebody suggested a switch under the dash. Any thoughts/opinions on this? Thanks!
