abs question
thanks for clarifing on the process. its a personal opinion really. you have to be certified to do it. and some dude offering via internet didnt sound to safe. i just dont like putting safety components into the hands of after market. my module is 500 from audi and a rebuilt one was 350 i thought the extra money was worth the peice of mind even though i didnt get it.
but then again abs is a luxury not a nessesity.
the shops around here did not offer such a nice 5 year warrenty or send it back if your old one is actually good.
actually after ready it again i was thinking of the hydrolic unit. not the control module
so in answer to your question yes you should get a rebuilt computer not the hydrolic unit
also this could be no problem at all. abs and traction control are ment to keep you in control if your directly trying to get out of control and get out of its working paramitters. depending on how new the car is it shuts down everything and thinks your going to crash. try it with your windows down and i bet they will roll them selfs up. some of the mecades models sit your seat up tighten your seat belt audis going the same thing but im not sure how close they are with it.
why dont you call audi or go there and talk to them the sevice writers there are usally pretty helpfull even if you dont get it worked on

I also agree with spending the extra money to get it done right, in this case I'm paying the extra $$$ for the warranty. Also a rebuilt module according to mudulemaster will be much more reliable than a manufactured one. Seems resonble.
Thanks for the info.

Anyone got any second opinions on this? Originally, told it was the module shooting craps, which was what I figured, but now, somebody suggested a switch under the dash. Any thoughts/opinions on this? Thanks!

Im also having problems with my ABS (which i have disabled at the moment due to it locking up the brakes) Audi quoted me $2100 for the ABS module and labor. I know I can get a rebuild for under $500 so im going to do it myself. I tried replacing the module under the back seat first since it only cost $75 but the problems persisted, so now I have to find a replacement module that attaches to the ABS pump under the hood.
You can get the module done on ebay for less than $100 guaranteed working or I can do it for the same price.
Hey, two more questions.
1. I was told that I can still drive the car if you remove the ABS control module. That the brakes will still function perfectly, but without ABS obviously. Is this true?
2. What all is involved in removing the module. My dad and I were under the hood looking at it, and Im wondering what all I need to do. Im guessing will I need to bleed the brakes when I get it back.
Thanks guys, Matt.

http://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec116.shtml you dont have to mess with the hydrolic lines, you can seperate the electrical part only.
I was wrong! My wire broke on the driver side wheel sensor. I spliced it and all is fine. Glad I did not have to spend the money for a module. Sorry for being so sure it was the module. In many cases it is, however.
