Hi guys,

I'm fairly new to these forums, so please excuse me for jumping right in with a problem I need help with..

I had a new battery fitted in my A3 S-line TDI 170 (56 reg) about two months ago and the car's been doing great ever since - until yesterday. When I started it yesterday afternoon, the alternator light came on and stayed on. I did not notice any difference in sounds, driving bahaviour, or feel at all, so ignored it. The light came back on (and stayed on) when I restarted the car a few hours later for my return journey.

Should I go back to Halfords where I purchased the battery and had it fitted also? Or should I go to a "proper" garage and have it checked out? I'm just slightly worried that if it's a small issue that is easily fixed, I'll end up spending hundreds at an Audi garage just for them looking at it and poking it a bit..

Any advice or help is hugely appreciated!!
