Default annoying problems

there is a squeeking noise everytime i'm cruising in 1st or 2nd gear. It has to be something with the brake system in the front since the squeeking goes away once i step on the brake pedal. I'm assuming it's the rotors. My friend suggested it might be "warped rotors" but i'm not really sure....It's really annoying and I need to fix this. I have to increase the volume on the radio just so I don't hear it but that doesn't help the other drivers that have to deal with it. the squeeking goes away once i'm in 3rd gear or higher. Help me out!!!

Default RE: annoying problems

OK, LT, two things...

1st, if it were warped rotors you'd feel the brake pedal "throbbing" back at you as/when you applied slight-to-medium pressure on your brakes. However, I'd definitely have your front brakes inspected. What you could be hearing is teh "wear" indicator on your rotors letting you knwo that they're getting a little tired of doing their job. Most modern brakes have this "feature" (I live using "quote" marks, can you tell?) built into them, to "annoy" you into getting them inspected and/or changed.

The other possibility is that there is some debris, or other foreign matter stuck between your brake pads and teh rotor.

Or, you used cheap pads that aren't compatible with youe Audi brake components.

2nd, teh reason teh noise "goes away" at higher speeds is prolly b/c other "road" noises are overpowering your brake squeal.
