Default Audi 2.8 12v No oil under Driver side valve cover????????????????

When I start the car it is smooth on the passangers side and a loud tick on the drivers side. I pulled the valve cover off and it looked dry so i tried running it with it off and nothing. Soi took off the passanger side and oil came shooting out the valve in there. What would cause the lack of oil in the driver side thereis nothing coming from the same valve. I pulled the valve that the oil shoot from and it seemed fine. Please help asap!

firstly id try to run some seafoam through the engine. more common a problem on the 1.8t but really any engine can get sludge and that can clog oil lines. after that id visit 12v.org they got some good stuff on this engine and what might be the issue. im just too tired to provide anymore help.
