Default audi a4 quattro engine questions (thank u in advance)

i have a 2003 Audi A4 Quattro, w 92,000 miles. I took it to get looked at when one of my oil lights went on. This is what I was told..."...misfires stored on multiple cylinders w boroscopy, found when engine is off coollant is entering cylinders. suspect engine short block or cylnder head gaskets will need to be replaced, need more diagnostic time..."
The car sends out a puff of smoke when initially started only.
I am so upset about this car, and woulod really appreciate any help. I have had this car for 2 years w/o problems.
Thanks

pull a spark plug & see if it is wet. and/or take a sample of coolant to a radiator shop & have it analyzed for combustion byproducts, that will be present if you have a head gasket leak.

replacing a head gasket is no big deal.

Who said you need a new engine? That's way premature. First step (always) is clear the codes and see if they come back. Diagnose those that do. And I agree on getting an analysis on the coolant.
