Default Audi Issues

Hey guys, i posted about my 1998 Audi A4 2.8 with the bad auto transmission, i'm still looking into it but i have a few other issues. It doesn't seem like my car is heating up, the 2 temp gauges never move. And it almost smells like it's burning oil. i was thinking maybe head gasket, i haven't let the car run for more than 10 minutes at a time i don't want to risk overheating it. any help would be appreciated

well the temp gauge is and ECT issue, its been overly discussed and on your car it is a real bi1ch to replace even though the part is cheap. as for burning oil see if the oil gets low. if it does there are product like stop leak and stuff that do work for small stuff that you can use in the short term.

oh i forgot what your smelling may be unburned gas because since the ect is out the cars running rich and dumping in more fuel than needed. also do you have and codes or CEL.

I borrowed the code reader from autozone, only pulled the code for the transmission module. I'm guessing that i need a VAG reader to get anything else. :-/
