I purchased an 06 A4 a few months ago and it only came with the valet key. I recently purchased a new key/fob online and am attempting to program it myself to save $135 at the Audi dealership.
I had the key cut by a locksmith and it works properly on all of the locks, he just did not know how to program it.

I've read numerous programming threads and have tried them all to no avail.

so sorry that I had never done it, I think you should take it to professional car repairer if you have no other good methods.
