Default Brake troubles!

My friend changed the brake pads in the front on his 99 A4(1.8T) and now he's getting a code on the dash! Besides that, the pedal feels like it's really soft and he has to press it farther down than usual to get the brakes to engage...any idea what's causing this? Please help! Thanks!

Were all of the sensors plugged back in again, like the pad wear sensor and the ABS sensor also you may need to bleed the system in order to get the proper feel back to the pedal.

The code coming up says something like "INSPS"...the fronts were bled and the cover is on the fluid container...I just found out that he actually bought the pads with no sensors and bypassed the sensors (which in my opinion is retarded, for the record)...would this cause this problem?

INSPS just means inspection service light, some pads don't have the ware sensor wires mine don't.
resetting the service light
