Burning Clutch on Audi A3
Hi Guys,
I just purchased a used 2006 audi a3 1.9 tdi 3 days ago. This morning, while I was on a hill in traffic and in snowy weather I started smelling a burning smell coming from the engine.
I took it to the dealership and after they looked at it the general manager himself calls me in and tells me that the smell is coming from the clutch. That the clutch has been slipping and that the reason for this is that I am riding the clutch and should be more careful while driving it, especially in this snowy weather (I live in north east Scotland).
Should I be concerned? I have been driving for a long time and never did I encounter a burning clutch. I do not think I am a bad driver but maybe I am.
Can the experts out there please give me their thoughts on this issue?
Maybe the clutch has already been damaged before I bought the car?
Should I insist that they replace my clutch?
Your thoughts and advise please.
Look forward to your comments
Many thanks in advance.
