Default Catalytic Converter and exhaust system

Hey guys. Ok, I have a 2006 A4 S-Line Quattro 2.0. It has straight pipes on it right now and reprogrammed. I need to get it smogged here in California. The guy I bought it from gave me the catalytic converter so I could get it smogged. My question is, is it easy to put the cat in myself, get it smogged, then remove it again? Or does it need to be re-programmed after the cat is put back in? If it's easy, anyone got a write up for the exhaust system?
Thanks

It won't need reprogramming - I'm assuming it's had the secondary O2 sensor tuned out. You should be OK as long as there's an emulator in there to replace the actual readings that the secondary O2 sensor would provide.

Labor wise, it can be a pain since the heat from the exhaust tends to make the bolts very tough to get off. If you have time, patience, and tools, you should be able to do it easily enough.
