Hey I recently bought a 99 a4 and the 6 disc cd changer was working fine until one day it stopped working a produced the err1 message. I bought a laser lense cleaner but when I inserted that it came back with same message. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this problem. I'm not overly pumped on swapping the stereo out but if I have to I will.

 

Same thing is happening in my 99 A4 too. I sent some air duster in there and used a lens cleaner, still just the err1. I searched this about a week ago and if those aren't fixing it then it's more than likely dead.

 

Dont overlook the connector cable and dongle. Not a cheap wire but cheaper than the other hardware!! Good Luck!
