Changing Out Factory Prep XM Satellite for Sirius Satellite
Hi,
I'll be picking up my new 2006 A6 4.2 this week. My dealer managed to find me one with almost all of the options I wanted, and nearby as well. he one thing they missed was that I wanted to go with Sirius satellite radio rather than XM. The vehicle they located for me has XM. It is very difficult to find a vehicle that is the color I want (light silver metallic) and also has the options I want (S-line, technology Package, and Sport Seats). They found it for me, but the car has the tech package with XM rathe than Sirius. They are willing to change it out, and they should have an answer for me early next week, but I though tI would check in here and see if there is anyone out there that already has experience with this.
Since the car can be set with either XM or Sirius, my guss is that either uses abunch of common systems, and they just need to swiitch out one or two components to make this work. But I want to see if in fact it is alot more complicated than that. Any info is greatly approecaited.
This will be my first Audi and I am absolutely blown away by the technogoly in the car and the quality of the finishes etc. The performance and handling is 1st rate as well. I look forward to picking this up in a few days.
I look forward to your repsonses. Thanks in advance.

Congrad on you A6
I have the same issue as you do but my A3 came with Sirius but I prefer XM. The dealer was willing (MAKE ME PAY) to change it to XM if I purchase the XM module and pay of installations. I've read few post regarding installation of SAT radio to your NAV system and it did not seem that difficult. But shelling out $350 for an other module is just not what I want to do. So, I would love to swap with you if you live in CA also, if SAT modules in A6 and A3 are the same.

Hi Imagine168,
My dealer researched this, and I researched it independently, and it appears to be a "no-brainer" toswitch out the units. My dealer is doing this for me tommorow, and not only were they willing to, but they have not indicated they plan to charge me for it either
So it doesn't look like I would have amodule available to swap. Sorry. Inanycase, when it is all complete, I will post a follow up and let people know how it went.
