Clutch Bleeding in an 84 5000S
I spent the last two days trying to get my clutch fixed. Replaced the CMC and thought it was bad too cuz the pump-and-hold method of bleeding was just not getting me an pedal pressure. So after searching around on forums and reading about the pressure-method I decided to give it a whirl. I hitched a ride from a buddy to Canadian Tire to assemble the parts I'd need (Oil can, Brake fluid and clear hose) when I came across an item that was cheaper and did the trick NICELY! It's a "Transmission on/off fill spout". Basically a cap and hose that screws RIGHT ON to the brake fluid bottle. Unfortunately the hose that comes with is too big and I had to buy some 1/4"ID hose as well. But alone, the spout cost $5.99CAD. About one third the price of an oil can (if you don't have one) and there is no chance of the brake fluid eating the seals and ruining the can. This thing is reusable ;-) Anyways, hooked that unit up did a couple of sets of the following steps
Squeeze bottle
Turn cap to off
close bleeder
pump clutch
open bleeder
Turn cap to on
see step one ;-)
Works like a hot damn, and all in all The whole thing only set me back $12CAD including fluid. Enjoy!
PS: I'll post a pic of it later when I am clean.
I will lock it for now. let me know when you are ready to uploud a pic. just make another post telling me to unlock it.
