codes p0341 and p0366
hello, i got the codes p0341 and p0366 poping up on when i scan my 2005 Audi a4 3.2l engine. These codes came on after i did a oil change, im not positive if its a cam timing problem or something else that's causing the sensors to misread. I replaced the cam sensors with new ones and still have same codes poping up. There is also a knocking sound now when it runs and it sounds all weird. What doesn't make sense to me is that there is a chain for the timing and not a belt, don't get how the timing would mess up. Does any one know what is the cause of this and what to look into to fixing it?

DO NOT RUN THE CAR! I just had that problem with my 2005 A6 3.2L. The chain adjuster on the righthand head had stuck (maybe dirt sturred up from the oil change) this caused the chain to slap the chain guides and destroy them, the chain jumped and bent ALL of the valves on that side. I did repair it myself but would not suggest it if you are not well versed in that particular engine.
Have it towed the dealer and have it fixed. Good luck.

hello
that would make sense, what exacgtly did you do for fixing it for instance did you need to drop the engine and pull the back of it apart where the chains are and the top of the motor apart completely? Also is there special tools that you need to do it considering a torque amount and what not. Im going to prob do it myself or if i cant figure it out buy a new engine if worse comes to worse. In addition was new chains essential to replace the old ones?

Engine repair
If you only need to replace the adjuster, you can remove it from under the cover on the back of the head. I was told that I had to remove the engine but found out I did not need to. You will need Audi-A4-A6-A8-3-2L-V6-Timing-Tool-Kit-FSI-Chain-Engine, you can find on Ebay. I you have to replace the timing chain the engine will need to be removed. I dropped it out but I have seen where some have pulled it out the front. Then the rear cover will need to be removed to replace the chain or chains. when you pull the motor from the transmission remove the 3 bolts from the flywheel and make sure the tuque converter stays on the transmission. I would suggest you buy a service manual before attempting to do it.

i appriciate it. I got a service manual went through the whole book and seemed like if i had to take the head peice of i would need to tighten the bolts in a certain sequence but still didnt find anything how exactly to inspect or remove the valves if there bent which sounds like they might b because of the sound the motor makes. The car has 104000 miles on it and it still boggles me that this motor woud mess up that easy and throw the chain off cause of the adjuster. On top of this whole issue i got this oil leak on the back side of the engine which looked like it came from the cam covers in the back, but i resealed them up and still leaking. Was assuming it could be coming from the oil filter on top of the engine but on the lower portion of it where it attaches to the motor. Do u have any idea what it would cost to repair this engine if i brought it to another place besides the dealer who know what there doing?
