2001 A6 put new transmission in it and now have power surge
I just put a new rebuilt transmission in my 2001 A6 wagon. It runs great and shifts well. BUT between 1000-2000 RPMs I get a power surge. The tac will go up about 100 rpms when doing so. We put the diagnostic on it and drove around with it trying to reset it. My close friend owns the shop and I didn't want to take a ton of his time at that point to make it get fixed. He said he was going to think about it and try to go at it again. I am just wondering if anyone out there may have run into this before and can throw out a suggestion. Over 2000 RPM's the car runs great with NO issues at all. I've put about 1000 miles on this new transmission and usually run it in 4th gear so I don't have to deal with the surge. Obviously the throttle and computer are not talking with eachother very well. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated..

2002 Audi A6 2.7T Tiptronic
Hey, I have a 2002 Audi A6 w/ tiptronic transmission and I am having the same issue. I have 80,000 miles on my Audi and my engine is revving between 1000-2000 RPMs. Above 2000 RPMs it runs smooth as can be. I took it to the local Audi dealership and it pulled NO codes. There are also no warning lights on either. The Audi dealership wanted to take my entire transmission and engine apart and charge me $5,500. I said hell no and picked the car up 15 minutes later. I had my transmission completely flushed as I figured the gearbox oil may be low or in need of changing and am still having the same issue. Apparently this is a common issue with these cars and these transmissions. Through reading forums and other people with similar issues, I was wondering if it could possibly be a TCM issue even though no warning lights are on. I figured if it were the cam sensors or anything electrical I would receive a warning light or pull a code. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Matt

I got it fixed. The car now runs great. My mechanic and I drove around with the diagnostics plugged in. He told me he did a forced adaptation to the throttle body. In laymans terms, I believe, he kept resetting the computer to make the brain and the throttle work in sinc. I'm sure there's a technical term but that is the general idea. This took about 20 of driving around to get it to run smooth. When it was kicking in it was very apparent. Any questions out there please send me a message and I'll do my best to help if I can.
