Default Confusing problems...plz help

1999 A4 1.8T Automatic FWD

A while ago i drained my battery by accident. When i relized it was dead, i charged the battery. After it was charged i start the car and it struggles to hold a steady idle and sometimes even stalled. As i drove it for a couple of days, the idle slowly went back to normal.

Recently i just canged the air filter and to do so i disconected the neg. terminal on the battery before i started working on it disconnecting MAF plugs along with a few more, etc. When i finished the job, which was 24 hours later with the battery disconected, and started the car i had the same idle problem as before but less sevear, due to the fact that it was not stalling. Will the idle slowly go back to normal like it did before?? Would anyone be able to help me out??...i just dont want it to turn into an expensive problem. Also my power windows dont "express" up or down since the new filter, they go up and down only when the switch is held

I dont know about the windows, but I know if you disconnect the battery, the ecu will have to relearn everything. Sometimes you have to take it up to audi.

yes you have to retrain them. Hold the window button up for a few seconds then all the way down, then all the way up again for a few seconds each. It will then relearn one touch up and down.

After you disconnect the battery you have to align the throttle body. To do this turn the key on to the position just before starting the car. leave it like this for 3 or 4 minutes. You should hear the throttle body clicking around if you have the hood open. That usually fixes the idle problem after battery disconnect.

Does that window trick work on teh rears, too? Hmmm... If so, it might be worth it to disconnect teh batt just to get express UP on my rear windows (from teh drivers' control, of course)

if you know somebody that has VAG.. then you can adapt the throttle body that way.. search for the vag locater and see if somebody in your area has it

Yeah sometimes the throttle body can be difficult and not adapt automatically and must be forced with a vag-com.

AWDaholic, no the rears can not do one touch with out rewiring them (mod on audiworld somewhere).
