constant Red brake light and beep on Audi A3
Hi,
Audi A3 2006 sportsback 2.0tdi car. Red brake light is ON all the time and constant beep sound while driving, and gives the message of handbrake failure on dashboard. Rear brake pads changed, front brake pads are almost new, checked the sensor of the front brake pads, its working fine. Checked the brake fluid level and its sensor, thats fine too. For the handbrake switch, there are two wires going into it, i tried short circuiting the and opening them, no changes to the light and beep. When the handbrake is up, the voltage in those wires is 0 and when i release the handbrake the voltage is around 0.8, is this normal? how does the handbrake switch works?
Please let me know what else to try, i think there is some short circuit or something but do not know how to find it.
also let me know where is the centre console of this car.
Thanks,

Maybe when the rear pads were changed something wasn't hooked up properly or broken. That's where I'd look next. The switch at the hand brake is usually just an open/close to ground. Use a vagcom and get a reading that should answer your question. If your going to own a new electronics loaded car you really need to invest in the 1 tool to test it properly.

Thanks for reply, The problem was there before changing the rear pads, and i think there is a brake warning light (yellow) for the pads because when i was testing the front pad sensor, that yellow sign appeared when pads were disconnected.
a mechanic made a vagtest on the car but he said there are many errors and it cant be determined from where this light/beep is coming.
