Default Convenience key unlock issue

Hi all,

New member to the forums having just bought my first Audi, a 2009 B8 A4 2.0 TFSI S Line. I have convenience keys for the car and these work perfectly with the ignition and, up until recently, they worked well with the central locking. However, in the last 3-4 days the doors no longer unlock when you grab the door handles/sensors. The boot lock still works, so it appears as though its just the passenger doors that are affected. Also, both keys seem to have stopped working at the same time and I haven't change any of the settings for the keys on the MMI.

Any common issues that anyone's aware of and any solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The most probable cause is one of the door handle touch sensros has shorted to ground. This will disable the entire convenience lock/unlock. Need to scan the vehicle and see if any faults show up for the door handles and then you'll know which one as well. Don't worry, you son't have to buy, have painted and replace the entire handle. The sensors are replaced separatley and isn't a real huge (meaning costly) job. Don't know cost on the sensors though. As I said, that's the most likely and common cause. The trunk, or boot, or rear lid (depending on where you live) works off an actual mechanical switch not touch sensors, and is more like a separate system.
