I have a 99 A6 Quattro 3.0 Auto and have just lost my cruise control. Yes it did work before, but for some reason it decided to quit. I opened the fuse block and wanted to check for blown fuse, but there wasn't a fuse in the spot designated for the cruise. I thought ok maybe it fell out?? so I tried to put a replacement fuse in the hole bit it wouldn't stay. I examined it a little closer and as far as I can tell without taking it out and looking from the back, there aren't any metal tabs in the whole where the fuse goes. So I am stumped. The manual calls for a fuse to be in slot 11 in the block and as far as I can tell there hasn't been one in there before.
Could there be a factory mod that isn't in the manual? How can I test for this or find the problem??

 

can't believe nobody out there has had a problem like mine. Did anyones cruise just quit? What was the problem?

 

Most likely it's in your stalk (if you have the cruise activation controls on the turn signal stalk) - that's a known problem on the A4 combination switches.

 

HEy my cruise is out too, its a 99 A4 1.8T with cruise on the stalk....No fuse in the fuse box just like yours, let me know what you figure out.
