Just as the title says.

I just bought the car about a month ago used w/ 98,000 miles on it. It's a '99.5 A4 1.8T Quattro. The cruise control is not working at all.

I sprayed some contact cleaner all over it to try to get it working and it didn't help. I'm wondering if the problem is the cruise control stalk or is it the cruise control computer.

Is there a way to check the computer before I go out to spend the money on the cruise control stalk (or on the computer for that matter). I have a feeling it is the stalk as it dies on these cars all the time.

Have the same problem. Changed the stalk $80. Still it only works now and then. Seems to be a major flaw with these cars. No codes are issued by the cpu and the dealer said the new stalk may be broken also. I dont think its the stalk. Have gathered some info about a softwre mod in the obc that controls this problem. Good Luck!

 

check your fuses #11 or f11 on the board at the end of your dash with door open to gain access to the fuses

 

from the left side of the board ( windshield ) there are four groups of four fuses its the last on the right of these bottom next set are 9 deep and next row 8 deep so it should be easy to find
