I have a 2003 A4 1.8T. The gear selection lights on the dash just blink when you put it in gear. You can put it in drive and it is like its in neutral. The engine just revs up but does not go anywhere. Same thing in reverse. Does anyone know what this could be. Any help would be appreciated.

 

Have the codes read.

 

Where can I get the codes checked? Besides the dealer. The nearest dealer is 2 hours away and the the car will not drive.

Take it to the dealer, they have about 5 different TSB's for these kinds of problems.

 

How isa TSBdifferent from a Recall? The car just ran out of warrany a couple of month ago. Im afraid this problem might get expensive.

 

Technical Service Bulletin, basically something that gives direct diagnosis and repair information if needed.
