Door open sensor
[&:]
When the car door gets warm in the sunshine the sensor tells me the drivers door is always open. Even when you really slam the door shut the computer display still says its open. Later in the day when it cools down its fine. Does anyone know if i could buy and change the sensor myself? or pay Audi a huge amount of cash to do it?.
Cheers

RE: Door open sensor
The sensor is part of the door latch, so you must replace the whole latch. The job is about a medium difficulty. You have to pull the door panel and its kinda a tight squeeze to reach the latch as theres no much space in the door cavity.

RE: Door open sensor
Ok, the latch and the sensor are two parts. i just fixed my few weeks ago. the sensor was basically two button in one module (one for the lights on/off, the other for the car computer) when you close the doors, only a spongy tape makes contact with the two buttons and over time the tape wear off and only one or non makes contact. it was a simple module that i think you can even fine it in radio shack. you can remove the module with a flat head screw driver to fork it out. its behind the latch on the outer side of the door where the door sensor wires are connected to. once you have that removed you will understand how it works. it's really simple if you ask me. i just added tape around the spongy tape that they used which gave better contact when door is closed. don't put too much or else it makes contact before doors closes.
