Default droning noise when driving

Hi folks,

just new on the forum. only bought my audi a3 back in october.
it is a 2.0 tdi 2005 plate.

since buying it i had hada couple of things happen. winscreen got chipped and some one hit the driver mirror and need to buy full new mirror.

recently the car has began making a horrible droning noise when driving. it is fine at low speeds but on the motorway its terrible. i have no idea if it is the exhaust or possible wheel bearing. if any one has an idea or had it them self could they let me now what was the fix.

it has done 62000 miles
a3 2.0 tdi

Could be a wheel bearing (or more than one), could be exhaust, could be several things. An easy way to check for exhaust leaks is to start the car and tightly cover the exhaust tips (hold a rag a rag over it/them) and list for a blowing/whistling/hissing type sound coming from somewhere other than the exhaust tips. If you are hearing noise somewhere else you have a leak.

If you hear the noise at same level at highway speeds at the same level with the car out of gear/in neutral (for automatics) it is not the exhaust and should be in the drive line, bearings/tires/etc...
