RE: Glowing Turbo
Just my two cents, I was chasing a 01 S4 at night on the highway. after a quick high mph run, i pulled up next to him and saw one of the turbos glowing behind the front wheel. I was awe struck... it was chiped tho. still really cool.

RE: Glowing Turbo
It's expected for a turbo to heat up, especially on a tuned car as EGTs are higher and the turbos are made to accept exhaust gas. What's the worry?

RE: Glowing Turbo
Did you get a good look at the turbo, that o2 sensor could have melted easily. I wonder if you got the metal on it hot enough if it would warp?

RE: Glowing Turbo
The worry comes from the heat. Melted this and that. Expanding/ cracking metal/manifolds. It is a sight to see and I woldn't suggest it all that much.

As far as the turbos accepting high EGT. There is a point were the heat can damage a blade. Fry some inner bearings. I am not that familiar with the audi engines yet, but I would suggest an EGT gauge of some sort. Temps that high for a consistant period of time can cause engine failure. Plain and simple.

RE: Glowing Turbo
just be careful with that in the future, that can't be good for the turbos lifespan!!
