Heat not working in 2002 a4.
Before we begin:
2002 Audi A4
1.8T Quattro
73,500 miles
Automatic
Last winter my heat went out in my car but I was away at school and unable to find a good repair shop, and I was without tools to fix my car. Now that I moved back to my hometown I'd liketo dig in and find the issue on my car.
I have read through all of the threads I could find and no where was I able to get a fix on what was wrong. I had someone flush my heater core but it came out spotless- I mean the car had less than 60,000 miles when this happened.
The only mechanic that was able to give me anything from a diagnosis said that the manifold flap that shifts between the cold air and the hot air was stuck over the hot air. However, I have no idea where to start to get to that.
The only other info that might be helpful, is that the defrosters blow JUST above freezing to thaw out my windshield, but it takes well over half an hour to get a visible windshield. No amount of driving makes it any better.
TL;DR: Heat went out, it's not the heater core, might be a manifold that directs the flow of cold/hot air. Defrost blows just above freezing so it takes over 30 mins to get a clear windshield.
