heat still not working
i have a 97 a4 2.8 Q. my heat hasnt worked since i bought the car last month. the car would warm up to operating temp very very slowly so i knew the stat was stuck open and i wasnt hoping that was why the heat wasnt working too. so i changed the stat, water pump, and timing belt this week but the heat still doesnt work. both hoses going into the heater core are hot but the air is always cold when i turn on the heater. a couple people have mentioned some kinda flap that directs air over the heater core, and i'd like to check that out to see if thats the problem, but i have no idea what i'm looking for or anything. so any help on this matter would be great. thanks
can anybody help me with this??? i'm just trying to get some info about this flap that i hear people talking about that i need to check but i havent gotten any info about it. where exactly it is at, how to check it.....any help??
Hi all, newbie here and I have the same problem with my '96 A4 Quattro. That post seems to have my problem diagnosed. I check it out over the weekend and give an update hopefully with pics. Also wanted to say a thank you to all who replied to my posts particularly the Admin for making my welcome warm. I also have a '98 M3 and I've been on other Bimmer forums and their welcome was down right frigid!
Mine on the a6 2.8 isn't working quite right either. It blows hot for a while and then eventually becomes less and less warm. I just flushed the system and it wasn't happening before this. I have tried to bleed the system. Maybe I am not doing it right? Can someone verify this?
Step 1: Heat car to operating temp with coolant resevoir open.
Step 2: Let fans kick on to suck coolant into the system.
Step 3: Ensure resevoir is adequately full.
Step 4: Close system and enjoy heat. (This is where I am having the problems)
Am I way off? On my m3 I just open the bleeder valve until no more air is coming through. There isn't a valve on the audi 2.8 that I am missing is there? Sorry to be so wordy but this problem is getting on my nerves. Thanks for your help!
