Heater Problem
I've had an A4 Quattro for about three months now and everything has been fine - until this weekend. The fan for the heater stopped working on Friday evening. When I next used the car on Saturday (about 24 hours later) it was working fine again.
I was planning on driving across the country today but the fan has stopped working again and with the rain this afternoon, I could not demist the windows sufficiently.
The problem corrected itself after a few minutes, but when I stopped to fill up with petrol, it recurred.
I believe the heaters run on one of the 30A fuses, so I checked this first to make sure none were loose. They are all OK.
I am under the impression that the problem is with the fan or the wiring connected to the fan, but I'm not exactly an Audi diagnostics expert and could be barking up the wrong tree.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem in the past? I could do with a bit of advice on this one...

Nothing to do with the fuses, I'm afraid. They were all OK when I checked.
I think it is a problem with bad wiring connections, as I spoke to my future brother-in-law earlier (who has an 03 plate Allroad) and he has heard of a recurrence with this issue.
Still, if anyone knows anything else, I'm keen to hear your suggestions.
Thanks for the replies.

I've taken it to a small independent workshop in South Molton, North Devon, and the bloke reckons it is a switch problem.
It seems to fit, as the problem is so inconistent. The day after I originally logged the problem on here I drove 200 miles to the south-west and the heater worked fine all the way (for three and a half hours).
I was in the house for all of about one hour, and when I got back in the car afterwards, the thing did not want to know again.
It seems like it will work when the engine is cold and continue to work until the engine is stopped. If it is restarted without leaving it for a few hours to cool down, the problem repeats itself.
Driving to work in the morning and home again of a night, there is no problem.
Does anyone know about access to the heater motor or the switches which may be at fault?
