That's funny, I was going to do that last night but wasn't sure if the brake cleaner would damage it. I used a light blast of compressed air instead. I'll try the brake cleaner and test it without the filter tonight.

Thanks!

K.

I tested the MAF sensor again without a filter at all and got the same results. I took the MAF sensor off and cleaned it with brake cleaner, replaced it and tested it and still get the same results.

I pulled off the plastic self-destructing hose/tube that goes to the valve covers to check for leaks and found none. Found no leaks anywhere else either.

I take it this means the sensor is bad?

Also, I found a few cheap used ones on ebay, but the part number is different. They're all 078 133 471, but the last letter is either A or E, mine is a C. Any idea if those will work or what that letter means? Advance Auto lists A and C for my engine.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

yep sorry to hear it mate the sensor is gone but at least you now know how to test it (though its of little consolation) its the correct way to do things before wasting money

Thanks. You're right, at least I know how to test it, so if nothing else, I learned something.

Thanks for the help.

Any clue about the part numbers?

Sorry, I wasn't clear.

Mine is part number 078 133 471C and I was wondering if part number 078 133 471E would work.
