Default Hi - I need some help with codes

The ESP light has been permantly on since I had the CVT transmission serviced on my 2002 A4 B6 last week. It's going back to the shop at the end of the week.

Meanwhile I bought a code reader from Ebay and it gives me four codes, Unfortunatley the manual doesn'trecord all the codes.

Engine

17887
41654
41139

ABS
18265

Trans
18265

I've had a look on this site and others and discovered that the17887 code is a Brake boost Vacuum System: Mechanical Failure 35-10 - - - intermittent which will probably be ok when the mechanic resets the ESP system.

The 18265 code is probably also related.

But I can't find what 41654 and 41139 mean

Anyone got any ideas. The car is running good.

Reset the codes and see if they return.

Thanks Crazyhawk

I reset the codes but they came back. Brought it in to be fixed and discovered the brake boost was defective. They fixed it under warranty. Also needed an oil pressure sensor.

I got the car back and it was running fine for a few days, but now it seems to be losing power, particulalry on take off. Can't figure it. I have no codes now.

I had the transmission serviced recently and the mechanic reckons it's fine. This loss of power thing is really bugging me. I'm not that confident trying to cross a busy highway, in case the car stalls.

Back to the shop again, I suppose.

I'm beginning to think Audis are like spoilt women: they take all your money, they're high maintenance, you never know when they're going to let you down, but boy are they exciting - you can't help but love them.

Cheers
TC

It sounds like you may be in "limp mode" and really shouldn't be running the car. This happens when there is serious trouble - usually with the transmission. 18265 is a transmission related code. I've got the same thing going on right now with my '98 A6, 120,000 mi. what i'd like to know is what exactly 18265 means - like what exact parts are bad.so i can have my mechanic fix itwithout paying audi a $150 diagnostic charge.

what octane fuel are you using? VAG is a good investment ( if in limp mode codes will be stored ) what ever car you buy you will have similar problems so don't knock the Audi because it fairs better than most

Hi
I'm running 98 octane premium. Have done since i got the car.

I had the tranny serviced and all the codes, bar the 17887, have gone.

The car is still jerking though the gears in automatic. Some days it's good, other days it's terrible. In tip mode it's fine. Had it VAGed by Audi again and only the brake boost fault keeps coming up. The ATM is clear.

I'm beginning to think that the CVT might be in trouble. I love the Audi, if it was any other car I'd have gotten rid of it by now. However, it seems to spend more time in the shop than on the road.

Can the tranny be going bad even if the VAG doesn't give any codes?

Thanks fo rall your help
