I have a 2008 A4 Audi convertible. Only 24000 miles. Yesterday, it started making a very high pitch and loud whining noise under the hood. It's still under warranty, but I'm concerned about driving 30 miles back to dealer if this is something serious.

I notice this noise stops for a bit when I accelerate, but once steady speed the noise is back & it is very load, under hood. The car started to idle rough at stops also. I bought this a week ago, certified pre owned from a dealer.

Any advise welcome.
