Default How to find boost leak?

I have a 98 1.8T quattro . My car is all crap now. As i accelerate , i hear a loud winding noise and there is no pick up at all. The car is extremely sluggish and wont move for s h i t. I am very frustrated cause i replaced the DV and this did not fix the problem . I basically hear something spinning real fast and it sounds like a fluttering noise. From reading alot , ive notived boost leaks are usually the problem. How can i go about fixing that , any help would be greatly appredciated!!

A boost leak will be a vacuum leak at idle. So just perform the basic vacuum leak test.

I find a leak by using this things from a doctor that they listen for lungs with.

very easy, I found out 3 leaks, and found out that mine 2 and 6 cylinder hydralick lifters are bed, or worse that others. And finally found out that my power steering pump 1 or 2 leafs are stuck.

Easiest way to test for vacuum / boost leaks is to have the car running at idle and take a propane (soldering kit for plumbing) and without lighting it, just turn on the gas a bit and hold it around all the fittings and hoses that are for your vacuum and boost ie brake, intake...etc, as soon as you get increases in your idle...BANG you have found your vacuum leaks !...also check your intake where it meets the head and places like that, you might not be getting off so lucky.

GOOD LUCK !!
