Default How to Replace Blower Motor in 96' a4??

I have to replace the blower motor in my 96 2.8 quattro asap. When i turn on the fan there is a loud humming noise comming from behind the glove box. and the higher the fan speed; the louder the sound. With this comes less air out of the vents. It is the middle of summer and i will go crazy if i cant fix this!

- does anyone know how to (1) get to the motor and (2) replace it??

Thanks guys

Remove the glovebox. There will be some torx behind a side cover. And some more inside the glovebox, along with a few on the bottom of the glovebox. Then the motor is right there.

YES!!! I did it.. It is soo good to have working a/c. However, it was alot harder to do than I oridinally thought. I first had to:

- Swing the glove box completely open.
- I had to then use an wrench screw-driver to get to the top screw that was holding it in.
- getting that blower motor out was a mission in its self.. with alot of pulling and pushing it finnaly came out.
- I didnt know how I was going to get the new one in but after the same techniques i got it in but cracked the plastic housing.. oh well.
- then reconnected and screwed it back in.

There was alot of info on this forum.. thanks for everyone's help!
